quite slow. I arrived in Phnom Penh yesterday after yet another
interesting bus ride. $4 for a 6 hour bus ride to the capital of
Cambodia. It's an interesting city, another with hardly any driving
rules, no lights at intersections, etc. Tuk tuk and motorbike drivers
in the "flow" of traffic, it's pretty chaotic!
Today we went to the killing fields of Choueng Ek followed by the Tuol
Sleung Museum, aka S-21, where many Cambodians were tortured and
killed. Quite heavy to see. In general I've learned a lot more about
the crimes of the Khmer Rouge than I ever thought I would. Scary to
think all of this happened so recently (1975-1978).
Later we walked through downtown a bit, along the water and past the
palace. Spending tomorrow in town and then meeting someone who works
in the Ministry. Should be another interesting day. I'll post photos
again when I get a better connection.
Thanks to everyone for your emails and your encouraging words, I'm so
happy to hear from you!!!
With love,
Lauma :)
